Lesson 1 (Tuesday, October 30th )

Today is our Halloween Party!!!

Making Witch Finger Cookies
We will make cookies in the shape of scary witch fingers.  We will make them and then bake them in the oven.  Then, we will enjoy them together!
Halloween Vocab Bingo
Students will use the Bingo cards that they made last week for the game.  Students will win exciting Halloween prizes.
Trick or Treat!
Students do a big Trick or Treat to the teacher for Halloween treats.


Lesson 2 (Thursday, November 1st )
Market Day
Students use the points that they earned to buy gifts.
Sight Words Cards Activity
Students will be given a set of sight words that they will use this month.  Teacher will show students how to make and read basic sentences with the cards.  When students are ready, they will make their own short sentences.
For example: I + like + you, I + am + a + girl, I + don’t + like + ants
Final Review
Teacher reviews all words and expressions that we learned in October.  Teacher introduces the new theme for November, Life in the Forest.


***We will start new reader books next week.

Reading Video

Last week, we made natural clay pumpkins and painted them.  It was a little dirty but very fun!


First we made the natural clay.


Then, we baked them and painted them.

This week, we will finish reading the Sight Readers Books.  The students are now reading simple sentences and words.  They did a great job!

Lesson 1 (Tuesday, October 23rd )
Word Wall
Teacher asks students to review the words and expressions we learned last week.  Students volunteer to say the words in front of the class.
Story Time-The Night before Halloween
Teacher tells students that next week will be Halloween.  To get ready for Halloween, we read a story about children ‘Trick or Treating’.  During the story, teacher asks students if they know what the kids in the story are doing.
Activity-Halloween Bingo Sheets
Teacher goes over the Halloween words that students will need to learn for the Halloween Bingo game nest Tuesday.  Students write the words and draw the Halloween pictures that they like.
Review
Teacher reviews the key points from the lesson and the Halloween words that we learned in class.

Teacher goes over the target language we learned this month.
Sight Words Readers
Teacher shows students the Sight Word Readers for this week: Dinner and Fly Away
Reading Time- Sight Words Readers
Students read the mini-books “Dinner” and “Fly Away” Teacher goes around the class and helps students sound out the words. After reading, volunteer students can read the book to the class.
Halloween Review
Teacher reviews the words and expressions that we will use for our Halloween event next Tuesday (October 30th).

Lesson 1 (Tuesday, October 16h )
Word Wall
Teacher asks students to review the words and expressions we learned last week.  Students volunteer to say the words in front of the class.
Story Time-Cooking with the Cat
Teacher asks students to look at the cover of the book.  Teacher asks students what the cat and the children are doing.  Students respond with “cook” or “make.”  During the reading, teacher asks students what the cat is doing and to identify the items in the book.
Special Activity-Natural Flour Clay
Students make natural flour clay with very basic ingredients such as flour, salt and water.  Students make shapes that they like.  Later, teacher bakes them in the oven and returns them to students.

Teacher asks students to review the words and expressions we learned last week.  Students volunteer to say the words in front of the class.
Story Time-One Hundred Hungry Ants
Teacher introduces the book and asks students about the pictures they see on the cover the book.  Teacher asks, “What do ants eat?”  Students answer with food words.  During the reading, teacher asks students if they think the ants can find food.
Special Activity-Picnic Table
Students make a mini picnic table with a placemat, dish, utensils and hungry ants!

Teacher reviews the key points from the lesson.

This week is for reviewing.  We will not read a new book this week.

Teacher and students review the words that we have learned in class.  In an activity, teacher will show students words and ask students to read them.
Sight Words Book Making
Students make books with sight words that they have learned.  When they finish, they share their books with their classmates.

Students play a Bingo Game with the sight words that they have learned.

Teacher talks about utensils (spoon, fork, knife, chopsticks) that we use when we eat.  Teacher asks students which utensil they use for certain foods.  During the story, teacher asks students why spoon is unhappy.
Special Activity-Clay Utensils
Students make a spoon and fork out of clay.  Then students pretend to use their clay forks and spoons to eat food.
